Waterfront Information

All campers are expected to take a swim test on the first day of camp; if a camper does not take a swim test he or she automatically receives a red tag (the shallow area). Red tags are given to campers who cannot swim 20 yards without flotation or who do not test.  The final decision concerning all swim tests is given to the lifeguard.

Campers are placed in a swim lesson class based on ability. Campers are only excused from swim classes with a note from their parents; otherwise campers are expected to sit with their swim class whether they are swimming or not. If a child finds they are not in a swim class, he or she should tell their counselor immediately.  No camper will be placed in a class after the first Wednesday of a session unless he or she was absent the first two days of camp.  Swim lessons are progressive, each class builds on previous content; for this reason campers are removed from a swim class if they miss three classes.  A camper is only marked absent from a class if they do not participate in the class at all; it is not counted as a miss if a child gets out early because he or she is cold.
