Dear Parents,
I am very excited to be returning to YMCA Camp Ingersoll! When I talk with families and staff, they often ask how it feels to be back. My answer is that it feels like coming home from a very long trip. I value the experiences I had and the relationships I made while facilitating other YMCA day camps for the past three summers, but - as the saying goes - there's no place like home.
As I reflect about how fortunate I am to be able to have this opportunity to come back and lead this great camp, I realize how much YMCA Camp Ingersoll has meant to me and to so many other staff, campers, and families throughout the years. Camp is a place where folks of all ages are able to meet new people, many of whom become life-long friends, learn a variety of skills, and spend time with "real" everyday role models, the type of people you are honored to know.
Camp Programs may change over the years, but the one thing that makes camp so special remains: the camp staff. They are the heart and soul of every camp. As I look to our staff team, I see former campers who have experienced the many special qualities camp has to offer first hand as they have become dedicated and professional role models. For instance, Caitlin, a camper in my Climbing Challenge program, developed trust and overcame her fears as she as climbed part of Mount Washington. Also Nick, a Middle Boy who begged his mom to let him stay and play phantom tag with Patrick and me, even though he was the only camper remaining in After Camp Care - and it was 5:58 PM. I am proud to say that our staff team is full of these former campers, who fully understand what it takes to make great experiences with their campers.
We are looking forward to providing these opportunities for you and your family. Thank you for considering YMCA Camp Ingersoll!
Best Wishes,
Tony Sharillo
Camp Director
